Class A, FOOLS Style

Over the last couple of years the fire industry has taken many turns. One of them is the emphasis on when and where a firefighter can wear a Class A uniform.

In years past, most departments allowed their personnel to wear the Class A to any function (parades, lectures and other FD related activities) and one did not have to get permission to do so. Today, though, is a different time and we are looked at in a different light.These days if you wear your Class A to any event, you must get permission from your department because in their eyes, you are officially representing your department. Even further, some departments will discipline their employees (as far as termination) if an individual is found wearing their Class A uniform without permission.

This is why the FOOLS have come up with our version of a “Class A” type of uniform.If your department requires you to get approval to wear your Class A, or if you feel that you could get disciplined for wearing your Class A at a FOOLS function, then you now have another option.

The FOOLS is now offering a black golf shirt that not only will give the organization to have some uniformity at functions (ceremonies, lectures and outings), but will hopefully keep our members out of trouble.

Our request is that during any FOOLS General Session, business meetings, Opening/Closing Ceremonies and any other FOOLS function you proudly wear this new shirt. Continuing our efforts to have a more professional image we kindly request that members complete the outfit with a “business casual” look.

Again, we are not saying that you shouldn't wear your Class A to FOOLS functions; we are offering a FOOLS option in the event your department will not allow you to wear your Class A, you feel you may put your career in jeopardy or you just want to have a Class A, FOOLS style.
