So your retiring Turn Out Fear (TOG) to your quartermaster or division in charge of your PPE. Here is a way to recycle some stuff off old retired TOG before it goes into the trash.
Step 1.
Remove every pockets from the old gear. To accomplish this get a good pair of shears used by seamstresses. You are going to want to cut as close to the seam of every pocket as possible. Pay very close attention to back of the pocket that you do not cut in to this material. Also keep the flap or material that is used to close the pocket intact, you will be using this again.
Step 2.
Inspect the detached material to make sure that you did not cut any material that will allow items to fall out of the pocket. If you did make a cut that will effect the pocket get some heavy duty thread and sew that area up.
Step 3.
Gather up your choice tools from you pocket. Inspect them and make sure they are ready for service. If you find any rust or they are difficult to operate with a gloved hand, remove them from you cache and repair or replace them.
Now you have a durable soft pouch that you can use to keep an assortment of hand tools in your pocket. This pouch will help prevent the tools from wearing out your outer shell on you TOG prematurely.
