This is a great cheap training prop for both CONFINED SPACE RESCUE and also FIREFIGHTER SAFETY. We got three of the old trash can holders. These are the ones you see in a park, rubber coated wire mesh. We removed the bottoms, great way to get time on the battery SAWS ALL. During training at my industrial fire station we connected two (2) of the drum holders together with furring strips and wire ties. We spread out the drum holders to extend the prop and used a salvage cover over the them. This gave us a training prop for CONFINED SPACE. Crews had to craw through the prop to a "victim" and package them up and remove them back the way them came in. We were able to have "Z" rigs and also use a pre-rigged 4-to-1. We used the third one against an engine to simulate an entry way to boiler, placed the "victim" under the engine. This provided a training prop with restricted movement for patient packaging. Working under the engine was a way to have crews get used to using rescue equipment with very limited working space. This prop worked well for training on a "inch worm" system. It takes less than 10 minutes to set up both props and adds some realism to the training.
For FIREFIGHTER SAFETY these work great by adding wire to reduce the amount of free space a firefighter has to move through the "tunnel". We can use one (1) or all three togther and can create bends and turns. You can add to the training by reducing visiblity or going to a total black out mask. Wooden door chocks can be use to prevent the props from riolling during use. They are ligthweight and easy to store and easy to set-up. The configurations are limited by your imagination.
